Syeita Rhey-Fisher (Sy) is a Hartford native and active community leader. She is currently an instructional literacy coach at West Middle and Annie Fisher STEM. Before becoming a coach, she taught grades 2-4 for fourteen years, advocating for educational equity through several avenues beyond her classroom. She believes in strategic partnerships and organizes efforts to build up the community around Hartford schools to improve learners’ educational outcomes. This includes launching initiatives, serving on boards, and writing op-eds, grants, and co-authoring policy papers. She facilitates workshops, committees, and summits via in-person and online platforms around anti-racism and diversity in education. Rhey-Fisher earned her B.A. from Trinity College and M.S. in Teacher Leadership from Quinnipiac University. She also completed her 092 certification and 6th-Year degree program at Sacred Heart. University. Rhey-Fisher currently resides in Hartford with her 3 children who attend Hartford Public Schools.
