Annual Posting/Preference Sheets

The contract outlines a process whereby HFT members can request a change of assignment or a voluntary transfer to another building. To change one’s assignment within your current building or program, members must submit a preference sheet. These are submitted around February 1. HFT distributes preference sheets to building reps each year around this time. Members can list three preferences in order of priority for positions that are available in their school or program. Principals then use these preferences to fill vacancies and determine what openings are to be posted for the upcoming year. Preference sheets are submitted to principals with a copy provided to your building rep. These set the stage for the the voluntary transfer process.

 

The contract outlines a process whereby HFT members can request a voluntary transfer to another building. All vacant positions are posted by mid-March each year. Tenured members can apply for up to two positions on the annual posting. A timeline then ensues for interviews, selection, and eventual transfer. Included in the timeline is a deadline for withdrawing your transfer request. If you do not get either of the positions you applied for, and do not withdraw your application, the district will transfer you to an available position for which you are qualified.
