The Hartford Federation of Teachers is proud to support Representative John Larson and Representative Jahanna Hayes’ Social Security 2100 Act. Years ago, the WEP/GPO (Government Pension Offset) unfairly penalized public servants by denying them their Social Security benefits, even if their spouses had paid into the fund for years. This act not only repeals that act, but increases benefits across the board, improves the COLA to reflect seniors’ expenses, and ensures no senior retires into poverty.
