Hartford Federation of Teachers, Local # 1018, extends its condolences to the family of our former leader, Andrea Johnson. A native of Hartford with deep roots in the community, she attended schools in Hartford and graduated from Bulkeley High School. As a decades-long Hartford educator, unionist, and advocate, she was a fierce supporter of students, families, and teachers of Hartford. Andrea worked tirelessly on behalf of HFT members for 20 years, twelve of which she served as President. A trailblazer, skilled educator, and union leader, her presence in CT’s field of education and labor movement will be sorely missed.
